The Pot of Gold’s at the End of the Rainbow in Bay St. Louis

Alice moved to Bay St Louis in 1989 after attending an art show. She fell in love with our quaint little beach town and made it her home until she passed away in 2004.

This beach scene in Bay St. Louis reflects Alice Moseley’s love of the sea and sun. She truly believed that she had found her pot of gold and fulfillment in Bay St. Louis. With its magical feel and warm, generoud people. Bay High School students, along with their teacher Ken Mathews, reproduced this painting on the side of a building on Main St. in Old Town Bay St. Louis. Unfortunately, this mural was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.

Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, was a favorite place of Ms. Alice, and the people loved her equality. To honor her legacy, the Renaissance committee of Bay St. Louis asked Ms. Alice to design a mural for old town. The design would then be painted on a wall on Main Street by Bay St. Louis Highschool students. Thus, we get this striking painting of the beach of Bay St. Louis. The original mural has since been destroyed after Hurricane Katrina.

The painting contains a beach scene busy with figures doing joyous, leisure activities all painted in bright colors. A rainbow stretches across the top third of the painting landing at a pot of gold held by an angel. With this, Alice is making the connection that Bay St. Louis is as rare a treasure as a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. These colorful multi-scene paintings are common features of Mrs. Alice’s work.
